For ordinary consumers, the name ADAYO Group may be somewhat unfamiliar, but the products of this company have always accompanied people's automotive lives. Founded in 1993, ADAYO Group has developed into a large enterprise group dominated by three main businesses: automotive electrical equipment, optoelectronics, and precision components, after more than 20 years of exploration and development. Today, ADAYO Group continues to explore. After two years of effort, ADAYO Group's wholly-owned subsidiary, Foryou Multimedia Electronics Co., Ltd., launched a head-up display system to enhance consumer driving safety while actively supporting independent brand vehicle manufacturers to improve their product competitiveness.
■ Highly marketable personalized configurations
The head-up display (HUD) is abbreviated as HUD. This device was first used in the flight assistance instruments of aircraft and has gradually become popular in mid to high-end cars. HUD allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road ahead while obtaining vehicle operation status, navigation, and other driving information within a reasonable field of vision, improving driving safety and reducing the probability of accidents. Currently, some high-end models from luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Cadillac have made HUD a standard feature, and mid to high-end models priced over 200,000 yuan in China have also begun to standardize or offer HUD as an option.
Zhu Miaoxian, manager of the automotive electronics division at Foryou Multimedia Electronics Co., Ltd., told reporters: "Equipping HUD is a major trend in the future development of automobiles. HUD is moving towards mid to low-end models. Although our independent brands currently do not have mass-produced models equipped with HUD, many vehicle manufacturers are developing or preparing to develop models that will choose to equip HUD. In the automotive electrical equipment field, products like audio and navigation are becoming increasingly homogeneous, while HUD, as a personalized configuration for vehicle manufacturers at this stage, has become a highly marketable product."
■ Enhancing customer competitiveness
Two years ago, ADAYO Group began designing and developing HUD products. Luo Mingdeng, deputy general manager of Foryou Multimedia Electronics Co., Ltd., stated that ADAYO Group has always adhered to the concept of enhancing driving safety in the research and development of automotive electrical products, continuously creating value for customers by providing competitive products and services.
Currently, the mainstream HUD products in the market are basically monopolized by foreign component manufacturers, and there are relatively few domestic companies engaged in HUD production, with relatively weak capabilities. "In terms of the future development trends of the automotive industry, we should not fall behind. ADAYO Group has rich experience in optoelectronic technology, precision component design, and software engineering. The multimedia company alone has more than 180 R&D personnel, which is the foundation for ADAYO to develop HUD products," said Luo Mingdeng.
ADAYO Group's original equipment manufacturer (OEM) HUD products have already been promoted to the market, and several joint venture or independent brand companies are actively communicating with ADAYO. By 2016 and 2017, multiple new cars equipped with ADAYO HUD will be launched. Luo Mingdeng introduced: "The OEM market has high requirements for HUD size, safety, and the design of the car dashboard space, involving the safety of cable and air conditioning duct positions and cable integration. Therefore, the introduction of HUD needs to start from the initial design of the new car. From a cost perspective, we can provide customers with high, medium, and low-end HUDs to meet the market positioning of new cars, and compared to foreign products, our products have strong competitiveness in terms of cost performance."
■ Highlighting technological advantages
Winning the market through technology is one of the key points that ADAYO focuses on in developing HUD products.
It is reported that in early November this year, ADAYO's portable HUD for the aftermarket will be launched on the JD e-commerce platform, and offline sales will also quickly unfold. Compared to the aftermarket products currently on sale, ADAYO's portable HUD uses an OLED display screen with a transmittance of over 80%, which does not affect the driver's line of sight; features such as adaptive brightness adjustment, high contrast, and ultra-wide viewing angles can prevent driver eye fatigue, and it is fully compatible with Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0, easily connecting with Android and iOS phones; adopting a super-thin pen case design concept, the main unit of the product is magnetically attached to the ultra-thin base pasted on the dashboard, making it easy to move and store, while the connection can be made through the cigarette lighter and OBD interface.
Zhu Miaoxian stated that ADAYO HUD has three major technological advantages. First, ADAYO HUD uses the most advanced transparent OLED display screen, supplemented by an adaptive brightness adjustment system that can recognize changes in natural light, especially the recognition of oncoming vehicle lights during night driving, greatly improving product comfort and driving safety. Second, ADAYO has a deep cooperation with Baidu to jointly develop navigation software, using a dual-engine approach that combines online and offline capabilities to intuitively convey navigation information and real-time traffic conditions from Baidu navigation to the driver. Finally, the functionality of ADAYO HUD is comprehensively expanded, not limited to a single navigation function, introducing multiple information such as call reminders, speed limit alerts, vehicle speed, water temperature, fuel consumption, and radar warnings. In the future, Huayang will also launch products with richer functionalities targeting automotive active and passive safety, parking assistance, intelligent connectivity, cloud services, and gesture recognition.
Luo Mingdeng believes: "Currently, mainstream HUDs in the market still focus on practical functions, while HUDs, as in-vehicle terminal display platforms, will gradually show a trend towards functional integration. We can boldly speculate that with the popularization and development of HUDs, it is very likely to trigger a revolution in automotive interior design, where the functions of conventional dashboards will gradually simplify. For ADAYO, we hope to transition from providing a single product to vehicle manufacturers to providing a complete set of automotive electrical solutions through years of experience accumulation in the automotive electrical field."
